The CASTELLUCCIO BLOOM, The LAVANDER BLOOM in Montegallo, Gerosa lake
Cecilia
Maria Cecilia Quinteros

This is a trip that will be a feast for the eyes, from the beaches of Lake Gerosa, an artificial basin with an immense natural panorama surrounding it, you will make your way up to Montegallo, or more accurately, Balzo, where you can admire the flowering lavender fields and daisies,  of the Lavanda dei Sibillini farm. From Montegallo you can then make your way to Castelluccio di Norcia, where one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the world can be witnessed, the Fiorita, or blossoming.

What is the best time to go and how do you get there?

The flowering period is most notably between the end of May to mid-July, the meadow on the slopes of Mount Vettore transforms into an artist’s palette of colours. The areas where the blossoms are best viewed are Pian Grande and Pian Perduto, only a few kilometers from Norcia. Every year thousands of wild flowers bloom spontaneously in a riot of colour ranging from yellow to ocher and green to purple.
